~ "Bioinformatics for Food and Health" ~

! REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED !

The second BeNeLux BioInformatics Conference (BBC2006) "Bioinformatics for Food and Health" will take place on the 17th and 18th of October 2006 at the WICC in Wageningen, The Netherlands. Please refer to the mirror site at http://www.bioinformatics.nl/BBC2006/ for registration details.

Location:
WICC - hotel and conference centre - Wageningen

Organization:
  • KNCV Workgroup BioInformatics
  • Belgium Bioinformatics Groups
  • Local Committee Wageningen
Audience and scope:
BBC2006 is open for students and researchers from universities, technical schools, research institutes, and industry.

BBC2006 is a two-day meeting for people interested in how bioinformatics is developing as integral part of science to forward food and health, biology and genetics with the help of IT. Primarily aimed at researchers in the Benelux, BBC2006 welcomes all interested parties to hear and see state-of-the-art bioinformatics research and to discuss progress and challenges for future bioinformatics notably, but not exclusively, in food and health.

Confirmed key speakers currently include:

  • Eugene Koonin, NCBI, USA
  • Winston Hide, SANBI, South Africa
  • Yves Moreau, University of Leuven, Belgium
  • Roland Siezen, NIZO / CMBI, The Netherlands
  • Wynand Alkema, Organon, The Netherlands
  • Michael Müller, Wageningen University
  • Willem Stiekema, Centre for BioSystems Genomics

Both days will feature 3 longer (40 minutes) keynote sessions, several short (20 minutes) contributed sessions and ample time to network during poster sessions and breaks. The short contributions will be selected from the poster abstracts by the scientific committee. The first day will be mainly devoted to bioinformatics in relation to nutrigenomics in the broad sense, while the second day will focus on pharmacogenomics in an even broader sense. Participants are free to attend only one day or the full two days. Registration is open at the fee of 25 € (covering abstract book, scientific program, coffee, tea).

Registration

Registration is open for all those who are interested in bioinformatics from Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, and beyond... for "Bioinformatiques sans frontiers".

General information

On behalf of the organizing committee we invite you to join the BeNeLux BioInformatics Conference, which will take place on 17 & 18 October 2004 in Wageningen, NL.

About BBC2006: The Benelux Bioinformatics Conference is a two-day international conference about bioinformatics. Since bioinformatics is such a diverse field, the main goal of the BBC is to improve the communication between different bioinformatics research groups (at both universities, technical schools, research institutes and industry) within the Benelux, to help them profile their research internationally and to provide an opportunity for interdisciplinary networking.

Both days will feature international keynote speakers presenting the state of the art in bioinformatics research. Local research breakthroughs will be presented in contributed talks. Finally, participants will be able to learn about emerging research and network with colleagues during the poster sessions. More information will be available at http://www.cmbi.ru.nl/bbc2006/ in due time.

Sponsor options

This conference has been made possible through sponsoring by Unilever, Biomax, DSM, Roche, Keygene, Oracle, Greenomics, WCFS, Dalicon, Applied Maths, NBIC, NVBMB & KNCV Working group Bioinformatics and CBSG.

Hoping to meet you in Wageningen in October,

Local organizational committee,

Information on the Workgroup BioInformatics of the KNCV

The goal of the Workgroup BioInformatics, which is linked to both the KNCV (http://www.kncv.nl) and the NVBMB (http://www.kncv.nl/nvbmb), is to stimulate the bioinformatics research and education in The Netherlands. The workgroup wishes to achieve this by means to: Last year
It was recognized that the same interests exist amongst the Belgium Bioinformatics Groups who organized previous Belgium Bioinformatics Conferences for several years as well. The annual symposium is the perfect means to achieve the abovementioned goals and we are happy to do this in good collaboration. Last year the First BENELUX BIOINFORMATICS CONFERENCE was organized by the Belgium Bioinformatics Groups in Gent, BE.

The target group of the BeNeLux BioInformatics Collaboration is larger than chemists and molecular biologists only: also medics, fysicists, informaticians and mathematicians, working in the field, are welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you soon in Wageningen,

On behalf of the board of KNCV BioInformatics,
Frank van Enckevort (secr. board)
Arno Siebes (chair board)
