Computational Drug Discovery Course: How to setup the X-windows emulator X-win32 on the PC

Most graphical programs on Unix platforms make use of the X-windows graphical library. We need to run a X-windows emulator on the PC if we want to display the graphical output of programs like Sybyl. X-win32 is such a X-windows emulator. Here is how to set up a X-windows session with our main unix machine:

cheminf.cmbi.ru.nl

First we tell the X-windows emulator which machines we give access to our screen:

Start -> Programs-> X-win32 -> X-Util32 -> Options -> Xhost -> cheminf.cmbi.ru.nl -> Add -> Ok

Now lets configure a Xwindows terminal session with this machine.
Assuming you still have the X-Util32 program running:

Sessions -> unix -> change the contents of this window to look like this:

Of course you have to substitute the account name c31 by the account you are using.

You only have to do the above once.

Now to start the emulator:

Start -> Programs-> X-win32 -> X-win32
